Beyond Self Service: Surfacing User-Friendly Information with Support.app Extensions
Support.app has become a popular way for Mac admins to provide users with a branded, approachable support experience on macOS. But beyond its built-in tools, Support.app also provides a powerful framework for building dynamic workflows through Custom Extensions. In this session, we’ll show how Jamf admins can use Support.app Extensions to surface real-time device information, automate remediation actions and simplify complex support workflows through a native macOS interface. We’ll walk through practical examples including compliance status, registration workflows, network status, battery health, password management and Jamf check-in visibility. Attendees will learn how lightweight scripts and Jamf policies can evolve into user-friendly workflows that reduce support friction without exposing users to Terminal commands or backend complexity. Whether you’re new to Support.app or already experimenting with extensions, this session will provide practical design ideas, implementation patterns, and reusable concepts you can bring back to your environment.
